The FSC announced that Mr. Ming-Chung Tseng, Chairman of the FSC, will make the opening remarks. Mr. Sush-Der Lee, Chairman of the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE), and Mr. Jamie Allen, Secretary General of the Asian Corporate Governance Association, will both deliver keynote speeches. This event will see the participation of international corporate governance experts alongside domestic leaders in industry, government and academia. All participants are sure to gain new levels of rich insight.
The FSC announced that other speakers from Taiwan institutions will include Mr. Soushan Wu, Chairman of the GreTai Securities Market; Mr. Sherman Lin, President of the Taiwan Depository & Clearing Corporation; Ms. Brenda Hu, Assistant Director of the FSC Securities and Futures Bureau; Mr. Albert Chou, Vice President of the TWSE; Dr. Eugene Chien, Chairman of the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy; Dr. Louis Chen, Professor at the Graduate Institute of Intellectual Property, National Taipei University of Technology; Dr. Jerry G. This forum will focus on two main topics: 1. Trends in Non-Financial Information Disclosure and Global Responsible Investment; and 2. Corporate Governance Trends from the Perspective of Investors. In addition to scholars and experts, this forum will also be welcoming directors, supervisors, general managers, senior managers, and other representatives from listed companies, financial institutions, and organizations related to corporate governance. By gaining insight into the latest corporate governance trends worldwide, it is the goal of this forum to raise the standards of Taiwan’s corporate governance to international levels. The entire forum will be conducted in English. On-site interpreter services will be available.
Advancing the quality and level of corporate governance will increase Taiwan’s international visibility. This year, we have invited Mr. Jamie Allen, Secretary General of the ACGA, to share his observations about recent Asian corporate governance reform and development. All foreign participants and other relevant organization attendees are invited to attend the forum and take part in a round table meeting on November 21st. Aside from sharing experiences related to topics such as “Post-Crisis Corporate Governance Reforms and Enforcement among APEC Economies,” discussions on corporate governance cases will also promote the establishment of exchange and collaborative partnerships with participants outside of Taiwan.
At this year’s Taipei Corporate Governance Forum, experts and scholars of corporate governance, along with many well-known academics and professionals from Taiwan and abroad, will be sharing their practical experiences. The scale of this event demonstrates Taiwan’s determination to actively promote corporate governance, to emphasize the pursuit of corporate social responsibility and sustainable business by listed companies, and to enhance the standards of Taiwan''s corporate governance. The local participants at this year''s forum include approximately 500 directors, supervisors, and CEOs of listed companies, officials from government agencies, representatives of academic institutions, and the media. International participants include supervisory officials from Sri Lanka, Indonesia, India, Thailand, and Korea, all of which are members of the IOSCO Growth and Emerging Markets Committee and the IOSCO Asia-Pacific Regional Committee.
