Status of Foreign Portfolio Investment 2021-4-7

1. Foreign Institutional Investors (FINI) and Mainland Area Investors’ (QDII) Investment in the Securities Markets
(1)Offshore FINIs: 125 applications were registered from Mar. 1, 2021 to Mar. 31, 2021.
(2)Onshore FINIs: 0 application was registered from Mar. 1, 2021 to Mar. 31, 2021.
(3)QDIIs: 0 application was registered from Mar. 1, 2021 to Mar. 31, 2021. According to the Regulations Governing Securities Investment and Futures Trading in Taiwan by Mainland Area Investors, mainland area investors (QDIIs) that engage in securities investment or futures trading in Taiwan are limited to qualified institutional investors approved by the competent authority of banking, insurance or securities for the mainland area.
(4)As of Mar. 31, 2021, cumulative net inward-remittance from offshore FINIs was about US$212.83 billion, and QDIIs was about US$37 million.

2. Foreign Individual Investors’ (FIDI) Investment in the Securities Markets
(1)Offshore FIDIs: 2 applications were registered from Mar. 1, 2021 to Mar. 31, 2021.
(2)Onshore FIDIs: 391 applications were registered from Mar. 1, 2021 to Mar. 31, 2021.
(3)As of Mar. 31, 2021, cumulative net inward-remittance from offshore FIDIs totaled about US$229 million.

3. As of Mar. 31, 2021, cumulative net inward-remittance from offshore FINIs, QDIIs and offshore FIDIs totaled about US$213.10 billion.

4. Foreign Portfolio Investment in Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) Shares
(1)Cumulatively from Jan. 1, 2021 to Mar. 31, 2021, all foreign investors bought NT$4,832.74 billion, and sold NT$5,161.82 billion of stocks, amounting to a net-sell of NT$329.08 billion.
(2)Cumulatively from Jan. 1, 2021 to Mar. 31, 2021, QDIIs bought NT$2.21 billion, and sold NT$2.76 billion of stocks, amounting to a net-sell of NT$0.55 billion.

5. Foreign Portfolio Investment in Taipei Exchange (TPEX) Shares
(1)Cumulatively from Jan. 1, 2021 to Mar. 31, 2021, all foreign investors bought NT$583.75 billion, and sold NT$588.31 billion of stocks, amounting to a net-sell of NT$4.56 billion.
(2)Cumulatively from Jan. 1, 2021 to Mar. 31, 2021, QDIIs bought NT$ 28 million, and sold NT$313 million of stocks, amounting to a net-sell of NT$285 million.
