II. Market Wrap-up


As of the end of May, 700 companies were listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange, same as the previous month. The total capital issued was NT$5,069.79 billion, an decrease of NT$13.61 billion over the preceding month, and the market capitalization was NT$13,871.57 billion, a increase of NT$469.55 billion over the preceding month.

As of the end of May, 486 companies were listed on the GreTai Securities Market, an increase of three against the previous month. The total capital issued was NT$647.08 billion, a increase of NT$13.51 billion against the preceding month, and the market capitalization was NT$1,200.48 billion, a increase of NT$39.39 billion against the previous month.

In May, the trading value of shares on the Taiwan Stock Exchange was NT$1,309.17 billion, an increase of NT$116.98 billion over the previous month, while the trading volume was 46.25 billion, an increase of 2.89 billion shares compared with the previous month.

As of the end of May, the accumulated net inward remittance of foreign investors was US$91.03 billion, an increase of US$3.38 billion over April. There are currently 145 securities firms, 23 futures commission merchants, 45 securities investment trust enterprises and 219 securities investment consulting enterprises.
